Welcome to my post for the The Kingdom Within book tour! I have a review coming up, as well as an excerpt and a giveaway for a copy of The Kingdom Within. But, first, allow me to introduce the book:

The Kingdom Within (The Kingdom Within Series, #1)
Princess Meredith’s eighteenth birthday is fast approaching, but unlike other girls, she is not looking forward to it. Upon her coming of age, she is to marry the prince of Alder, the most powerful kingdom in the world. Though the idea of marriage to a complete stranger is appalling, she knows she has no choice. Without the marriage contract, Stonefall’s alliance with Alder will be lost, and her people will be safe no longer; Theros, King of Talos, has set his eyes of conquest on Stonefall and he wants Meredith dead.

Connor, an elite soldier entrusted with Meredith’s safety, arrives at the palace just as things begin to take a turn for the worst. Together, they will embark on a journey of survival, in which Meredith will find that the only thing she never prepared for was falling in love.

My Rating: 3 Roses

A good YA read that I enjoyed, The Kingdom Within was a nice book. It wasn't perfect but it was an enjoyable read.

Meredith was okay but I wasn't her biggest fan. I wanted to admire her strength but it manifested mostly in recklessness and poor decisions. You'd think, as a princess, she would know that her safety was important not just to herself, but to her kingdom. But she did have good qualities so I was fine with her.

Connor was a really likable hero. He was smart, strong, and sweet and his adorableness was what made the romance worthwhile.

The plot moved quickly and, though I wasn't hooked, I was kept interested. I enjoyed the story overall and the ending has me curious about what will happen next. So, though it wasn't amazing, The Kingdom Within was a good read worth looking up.

Up for grabs is a signed hard copy of The Kingdom Within.
