Welcome to my post for the Tainted Energy book tour! I have a review coming up, as well as a giveaway for a $20 gift card and a swag pack. But, first, allow me to introduce the book:
For seventeen-year-old Lena, living in the trailer park with the rest of town’s throwaways isn’t exactly paradise. Dealing with a drunken father who can't keep his fists to himself doesn’t help matters either. The only good thing in her life, other than track, is the mysterious man who visits her dreams, promising to find her.
When a chair burns her arms, Lena chalks it up to stress-induced crazy. Yet as bizarre incidents escalate, even being crazy can’t explain it all away… until one day dream guy does find her. Tarek lost Lena seventeen years ago after she was accused of treason and marked Tainted. He finally discovers her reborn on Earth into a life of suffering as punishment for her crime.
However, someone else has already found her… and wants her dead. Willing to sacrifice everything, he fights to keep her safe so she can live the only life she’s ever known—even if that life doesn’t include him.
My Rating: 3 Roses
Lena was an okay heroine, though somewhat oblivious. There were several times when signs were right in front of her and she didn't realize it. But, she was also kind, brave, and likable overall.
Tarek was an absolute sweetie. He was totally devoted to Lena, first to finding her, then to protecting her. I thought he was simply wonderful.
The romance was sweet. Tarek and Lena were great together, though I can only hope for the best after the ending.
The plot kept me interested. My big issue with the book was that I really needed some more explanation. More information of the whole life cycles and why Lena was punished. But, I enjoyed the story overall and the ending has me curious about what happens next. YA lovers, you might want to check this book out.
