Tour: Her Highland Hero by Terry Spear
Release date: July 1, 2014
Genre: Historical (Highlander) Romance
Series: The Highlanders #6

Lady Isobel is a Norman laird’s daughter, living near the Scots border where her father, Lord Pembroke, is trying to keep the peace. But her mother was a Highlander and the man Isobel loves most of all is Laird Marcus McEwan, who has been bringing news of her mother’s people for years. But now Isobel’s father wishes her wed to an English nobleman, who will carry on his title. Isobel will wed no other man but her heart’s desire—and that is one braw Highlander from her mother’s homeland.

Laird Marcus McEwan has loved the feisty lass forever. For years, Marcus has tried to convince Lord Pembroke to allow him to wed his daughter. But the Norman lord will not allow it. Then ambushes and murders make it too dangerous for Marcus to reach a peaceful resolution.

Nothing goes as planned and keeping the lass for his own is fraught with danger, as they try to determine who was behind the killings. Isobel and Marcus will do everything in their power to ensure they are together as they have always vowed they would be.

My Rating: 3 Roses

A sweet, overall enjoyable historical romance, Her Highland Hero was a lovely read.

Isobel was a great heroine who was determined to find her own happiness. Even with all the trials she went through, she stayed strong and never wavered in her determination to be with Marcus. She was a lovely character and I really liked her.

Marcus was a total sweetie. Totally devoted to Isobel, nothing but her rejection would keep him from finding a way to be with her. But, he was first and foremost and honorable man, so he refused to do anything that would bring her dishonor. I thought he was just wonderful.

The romance was lovely. From the beginning, it was clear how much Isobel and Marcus loved each other and how they were both willing to fight and wait for each other. And, they definitely had some chemistry between them. I thought they were a perfect couple.

The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. However, I never felt fully engaged for some reason. There was nothing wrong with the book, but I just didn't connect with it all the way. But, that might just be me. Regardless, I still enjoyed the story and I thought the ending was lovely.

Her Highland Hero was an enjoyable historical romance that I quite liked. Romance lovers, this is a book you might want to check out.

Excerpt:

When the darkness faded, Marcus realized he was sitting up in bed against the pillows and sunlight no longer shown through the window but was replaced by nightfall.

He groaned. "How long have I been out?"

"Three days." Rob poured him a tankard of mead.

"My horse..."

"He is being cared for at the stable in the village." Rob handed him the tankard.

Marcus noticed then that Finbar was no longer in the room. "Where is your brother?"

"The word has spread that you were attacked by the Sassenach. Because of the incident, skirmishes at the border have begun. Finbar is watching the situation and trying to negotiate with Isobel's da."

Marcus swallowed several gulps of mead to soothe his parched throat. "Isobel?"

"From what we have learned, she is safe, locked up in the castle, but fine."

"Does she know about..." Marcus let out his breath in exasperation. "About me?"

"I am certain that her da and his staff will attempt to keep the news from her. How are you feeling?"

"Better."

Rob looked skeptical.

"Like I have been run over by a hundred galloping horses ridden by the MacLauchlan clansmen, if you must really know, but I am not as dizzy as earlier. And my appetite has returned."
