The last time Lady Claire Campbell saw her husband, she was furious...and for good reason. She told him she hated him and never wanted to lay eyes on him again. But now he's gone to fight a brutal battle against Napoleon and the French, and soon it may be too late for her to say she's sorry.

Major Sir Robert Campbell never expected to see his beautiful English wife ever again. So when an apparition in her form appears on the battlefield after the bloody conflict at Waterloo, he's sure she's an angel come to take him to heaven.

Claire remains at her injured husband's side, desperate to find a way to mend their broken marriage. But some wounds go deeper than blows Rob received on the battlefield. And some wounds can never be healed.

My Rating: 5 Roses

Sweet, emotional, and utterly delightful, A Highlander's Heart was a lovely historical romance about a second chance. I loved this wonderful novella and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Claire was a great heroine. She knew she had made a mistake when she pushed her husband away and said terrible things to him in anger. So, knowing that the apology wouldn't cut it in a letter, she went after him and found him injured after a battle. And, from then on, she refused to leave his side until she proved her regret and earned a second chance at their marriage. I thought she was a lovely character. She was strong, determined, but humble enough to know when she was in the wrong and seek forgiveness for it. I really liked her character.

Rob was wonderful as well. After they both experienced a tragedy, he hid his emotions, thinking that he needed to be strong for Claire. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as he expected and his marriage fell apart. But, even so, he was still loyal to Claire and, when he got the chance to fix his marriage, he wasn't about to mess it up (at least, not on purpose). He was very sweet, honorable, and just a good man in general. He was adorable and I really liked him as well.

The romance was great. I really liked how it was about a couple who loved each other, but needed to bridge a gap that had opened between them. They got a second chance to get it right and I thought it was sweet how both of them were determined to make it work. And, they definitely had some hot chemistry. I thought they were a perfect couple.

The plot moved quickly and I was totally engaged the entire way through. I really liked the story and the ending was lovely. This was a fantastic first book in the Highland Knight's series and I can't wait to see what happens with the next books.

A Highlander's Heart was an absolutely delightful historical romance. This novella was very sweet, emotional, and just lovely overall. Romance lovers, this is a book you won't want to miss.
