Welcome to my post for the Chantress Alchemy book tour! I have a review coming up, as well as a giveaway for copies of Chantress Alchemy. But, first, allow me to introduce the book:

Chantress Alchemy (Chantress, #2)
Release date: May 6, 2014
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Genre: YA Historical/Paranormal Romance
Series: Chantress Trilogy #2

Since defeating Lord Scargrave with her music, Lucy, the last Chantress, has lived by the sea, mastering the intricacies of Wild Magic. But now her quiet life is about to end: the wheat crop has failed, the people are rebelling, and Lucy is called urgently back to King Henry IX’s court. There she finds the Inner Council planning to save England by making gold through alchemy. But the golden crucible — the critical element in the alchemical process — has been stolen, its guards murdered. Lucy is charged with finding the traitor behind the attack.

Meanwhile, enemies old and new are gathering. Scargrave's brutal Chantress-hunter has become King Henry's closest advisor. Lucy’s beloved Nat has fallen out of favor and is shunned by his colleagues; their romance means trouble for both of them. Worst of all, something goes wrong with Lucy’s magic. The palace is a labyrinth, and there’s a monster at its heart — a monster who may have the power to defeat Lucy once and for all.

Amy Butler Greenfield returns to the beguiling world of Chantress for a suspenseful tale of courtly intrigue, music, and magic in Chantress Alchemy.

Chantress (Chantress, #1)

My Rating: 5 Roses

An absolutely amazing sequel that was even better that the first, Chantress Alchemy was a brilliant read. It had thrills, secrets, betrayals, romance, and it was all wonderful. Loved it!

Lucy became an even stronger character in this book. In book 1, she was already badass, but she got even tougher in this book. She proved that it wasn't just her magic that made her strong. She also had the strong will and cleverness that made her a force to be reckoned with, magic or no magic. She was just great, an absolutely fantastic heroine.

Nat was still great. He was clever as he navigated the very treacherous court and he was so sweet. He was completely devoted to keeping Lucy safe in the midst of all the danger. He made a choice near the end that made me want to shake him, but I understood why he did it and, in the end, it made me respect him more as a character. I still totally adore him.

The romance was sweet. It was a stronger element in this book than it was in the last book, but the focus was still on all the political intrigue. Regardless, I thought Lucy and Nat were lovely together. They made one hell of a tough team. I can't wait to see how things work out for them in the last book.

The political games in this book were crazy. And I  mean that in a good way. There were so many secrets and so much treachery going on at the king's court. I couldn't figure out who was behind all the shenanigans, so when it was revealed, it was a huge shock. I definitely never suspected who it turned out to be. All that kept me on the edge of my seat and it was brilliantly done. And the alchemy that was introduced was very interesting and it added another element of magic that made this book even better

The plot was fast paced. I was completely hooked the entire way through. I really enjoyed the story and the ending has me anxious to get my hands on the next book in the series. Can't wait to read it!

Chantress Alchemy was a brilliant YA historical/paranormal romance. It was romantic, thrilling, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Every part of it was just perfect. If you like romance or political intrigue with some magic mixed in, then you definitely have to read this book.
