Deep Blue (Blue Series)
Release date: March 6, 2014
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

When Cali Morgan kicks off her perfect post-college summer in Lake Tahoe, she has everything she ever wanted: acceptance into a top law program, a gorgeous boyfriend, and an incredible summer planned with her best friend.

Confident about her place in the world, Cali makes it her mission to be her friend’s wingwoman and help her meet guys. What Cali doesn’t count on is running into Jaeger Lang, one of her older brother’s high school friends, or the sparks that fly when she’s around him.

Jaeger has changed, and it’s not just the added height and muscle. There’s something about him that’s deep and a little scarred. In spite of the changes, Jaeger becomes a top pick for her friend—if Cali can keep her hands off him.

But when Cali’s boyfriend dumps her and her carefully laid plans begin to unravel, she finds herself questioning what it is she truly desires. In the midst of doubts about her future, one thing is very clear: she wants Jaeger for her own. The question is, has her friend already fallen for him?

My Rating: 3 Roses

An enjoyable, lovely New Adult romance, Deep Blue was a good read. I didn't love it, but I did like this book.

Cali was an okay heroine. However, I found her to be a bit selfish and mean at times. She focused on her issues and didn't give thought to how anyone else was being affected. This wasn't a big problem, but it did keep me from liking her.

Jaeger was much better and he brought the rating up just by being so awesome. He was so sweet and very loyal to those he cared about. He was much more clever and deep than he would seem at first glance and I totally adored him.

The romance was good. Because of my issues with Cali, I didn't get totally into it, but because of Jaeger, I thought they were sweet together. And there was certainly some hot chemistry between them.

The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. I enjoyed the story, but the ending felt rushed, with several new problems introduced in the last few chapters, only to be swept away just as quickly. I felt like they didn't need to be there, especially because they didn't even have a chance to develop. I would have liked it better if the story had just stayed focused on Cali and Jaeger's growing relationship, rather than adding random plot points. But, overall, I liked the story.

Deep Blue was a good New Adult romance. I didn't love it, but I found it to be an enjoyable read. Romance lovers, if you want a quick, lovely read, then you might want to look this book up.
