Series: Artifact Hunters #2

An ancient Egyptian artifact is driving Queen Victoria insane, and that’s not top of Cara Devon’s growing list of problems.

Viscount Nathaniel Lyons is a man of numerous secrets, but there is one in particular that threatens his fledgling relationship with Cara. Stunned by Nate’s revelation, and before she can absorb the ramifications of his actions, he is arrested, charged with treason and imprisoned in the grim Tower of London. He stole something the mad queen wants, and only has days to deliver, before his date with the executioner.

Although sorely tempted, Cara can’t let him die on Tower Green, not when their connection means she would share his fate.

Only together can Cara and Nate figure out how to wrestle Hatshepsut’s Collar from around the queen’s neck, before she plunges Britain into a world war. The search for answers sends Cara to the opulent Winter Palace of St Petersburg and the frozen depths of Siberia, with every step shadowed by an enemy with his own dark plans.

My Rating for Hatshepsut's Collar: 5 Roses

Absolutely brilliant! I adored Nefertiti's Heart, so I had high expectations for book 2. And, it certainly didn't disappoint. With romance, mystery, thrills, treason, magic, and so much more, Hatshepsut's Collar was a fantastic read. If you liked book 1, you are going to love this one.

I already really liked Cara from book 1. And, she stayed just as awesome in this one. She was remarkably strong, clever, and determined. She wouldn't take shit from anyone, not even the love of her life. She proved herself as a badass several times over and I just loved her for it. She's absolutely wonderful.

Nate was still just as amazing. He was very strong, always several steps ahead of everyone else, and definitely not someone to mess with. He was so sweet and so adorable protective of Cara (which got him in trouble with her a few times). I totally adored him.

The romance was great. Cara and Nate are such a great couple. They're both so strong and so perfectly matched. Not to mention the super hot chemistry between them. There was never a shortage of steaminess with these two :)

My one problem with this book, which was also my one problem with book 1, was that there were modern terms that were used and they didn't fit into the story. I would totally immersed into the alternate Victorian society, then a modern word would jerk me out of it. For example, at once point, someone said "Go hard or go home," which is definitely a modern slang term. It was annoying, but it wasn't a big problem, especially because the author did an otherwise brilliant job bringing the steampunk world to life.

The plot was fast paced and I was utterly hooked the entire way through. There were plenty of thrills that kept me on the edge of my seat as Cara and Nate fought to proof Nate's innocence and get Queen Victoria away from the collar's influence. With betrayals, treason, and tons of danger, this book doesn't lack in excitement. I loved the story and the ending has me looking forward to book 3.

Hatshepsut's Collar was a brilliant New Adult steampunk romance. I loved this book so much! It had thrills, romance, and enough excitement to keep me glued to the page. Fans of book 1, you will not be disappointed with this book. And, romance lovers, this series is a must read.
