Soon, Elusion® will change the world and life as we know it.

A new technology called Elusion is sweeping the country. An app, visor and wristband will virtually transport you to an exotic destination where adventure can be pursued without the complications—or consequences—of real life.

Regan is an Elusion insider. Or at least she used to be. Her father invented the program, and her best friend, Patrick, heir to the tech giant Orexis, is about to release it nationwide. But ever since her father’s unexpected death, Regan can’t bear to Escape, especially since waking up from the dream means crashing back to her grim reality.

Still, when there are rumors of trouble in Elusion—accusations that it’s addictive and dangerous— Regan is determined to defend it. But the critics of Elusion come from surprising sources, including Josh, the handsome skeptic with his own personal stakes. As Regan investigates the claims, she discovers a disturbing web of secrets. She will soon have to choose between love and loyalty…a decision that will affect the lives of millions.

Suspense, thrills, and romance fuel this near-future story about the seductive nature of a perfect virtual world, and how far one girl will go to uncover the truth behind the illusions.

My Rating: 4 Roses

Thrilling and full of secrets, Elusion was a fantastic YA read. It kept me guessing and I really enjoyed reading it. Just wonderful!

Without a doubt, the best part about the book was the rich description of the world inside Elusion. It was vivid and beautiful and brilliantly done. It brought me right into the world of Elusion with all the details, which helped me understand why so many of the characters in the book would be attached (or addicted) to it.

Regan was a great character. She strong and very clever. She didn't take her trust for granted, though she also wan't overly suspicious. She just knew to not take what other people said, even people who she knew very well, at face value. She was determined to see for herself in order to find out the truth. I really liked her. I thought she was lovely.

Josh was also wonderful. He was strong and extremely devoted to those he cared about. He would do anything to protect his loved ones, which is what got him into the whole tangle in the first place. He wasn't always clear about where he stood in regards to Regan and Elusion, which made him a little sketchy at first, but it was clear that everything he was doing was for his sister. He was very sweet and I totally adored him.

The romance was very sweet. It developed slowly as Regan and Josh came to trust each other. I thought they were wonderful together.

Patrick was confusing. On one hand, he kept the truth from Regan and did everything in his power to keep her from finding out everything that was going on. So, that made me wary of him. On the other hand, it was always clear how devoted he was to Regan and how much he cared about her. He was always very sweet to her. And, when I found out the truth of the corruption in Elusion, I ended up really liking him.

The plot was well paced. I was kept interested the entire way through, but I wasn't completely hooked. The mystery was thrilling and the truth totally blew me away. I never suspected what was really going on and it was a huge shock to find out the true extent of what was going on. I really enjoyed the story and the way it ended has me itching to get my hands on book 2. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Elusion was a brilliant YA read. The romance was sweet, the world of Elusion was gorgeous, the mystery was thrilling, and the secrets were shocking. I really enjoyed reading this fantastic book. Lovers of YA, this is a book you have to read.
