My Rating: 3 Roses

A dark, emotional romance, The Temptation of Laura was a wonderful read. I really enjoyed reading this lovely book.

Laura was a great heroine. She had a difficult life that forced her to make unsavory decisions, but she refused to be ashamed of doing what she needed to do in order to survive. But, she was also determined to leave that life once and for all. She was a strong character and quite admirable for what she went through. My only issue with her was that, even thought I understood the reason for it, her deep cynicism was rather frustrating at times. Otherwise, I really liked her.

Adam was also good. He was sweet and determined to succeed. However, he had a frustrating habit of placing his ambitions before the more important things and letting said ambition blind him. But, I still really liked him.

The romance was okay. I thought Laura and Adam were well matched and I thought it was sweet how they accepted each other as they were. And, there was no denying the hot chemistry between them. However, I didn't like the darker workings of their relationship, even though I understood them. That turned me off from the romance a bit, but I still liked it overall and I still thought Laura and Adam were a lovely couple.

The plot was good. I wasn't totally hooked, but I was kept interested the entire way through. There were plenty of secrets, surprises, and thrills of danger that kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the story and I thought the ending was a perfect wrap up to the story.

The Temptation of Laura was a wonderful historical romance. I really enjoyed reading it, despite the issues I had with some parts. Romance lovers, this is a book worth checking out.
