Ten Reasons to Stay by Sabrina Jeffries + Featured Freebie

Ten Reasons to Stay

In "Ten Reasons to Stay," previously published in the anthology The School for Heiresses, lessons go far beyond etiquette and needlepoint. Eliza Crenshawe’s lesson is to look before she leaps. But when she discovers that her new guardian plans to marry her off without so much as a Season, she forgets all that. She flees—on a horse she unwittingly steals (oops!)—from Colin Hunt, a newly minted earl who wants nothing more than for her to go home…or stay forever.

My Rating: 5/5

A sweet novella! Ten Reasons to Stay was a lovely story, a perfect historical romance.

Claimed by Him Blog Tour: Guest Post + Giveaway Info

Welcome to my post for the Claimed by Him blog tour. I have a guest post from the author for you. But, first, allow me to introduce the book:

Claimed by HimGraves Buchanan has had to climb farther and higher than any of his friends, singlehandedly becoming a billionaire in less than two decades, even with a rotten poor childhood in the streets. He likes sex the way he learned it; animal, raw and without any strings attached. But even as messed-up as he is, he cares deeply for his best friend’s baby sister, Chloe Lexington. But Chloe is an heiress, a ‘princess’, and no matter how much he wants her, Graves doesn’t think he has it in him to handle a girl like her.

But Chloe has other plans for him, and she’s not taking no for an answer. She’s been warned against Graves by her brother, Daniel, and against all of his eccentric billionaire friends, but Chloe has merely been biding her time. Now that she’s almost twenty-five, she’s determined to have the man she’s always wanted, and she’ll use anything as incentive to be claimed by him, at last.

Naturals (The Lost Souls #2) by Tiffany Truitt + Featured Freebie

Naturals (The Lost Souls, #2)

Tess is finally safe from the reach of the Council, now that she is living in the Middlelands with the rebel Isolationists. With James having returned to Templeton, she easily falls back into her friendship with Henry, though her newfound knowledge of Robert’s chosen one status still stings. Even surrounded by people, Tess has never felt more alone. So she’s thrilled when James returns to the settlement, demanding to see Tess — until she finds out that it’s because her sister, Louisa, has been recruited into Tess’s old position at Templeton, and that the dangerously sadistic chosen one George has taken an interest in her.

Feature and Follow #16

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow
Feature and Follow-a great way to *meet* new blogging buddies and gain new followers! F&F hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Q: Is there a song that reminds you of a book? Or vice versa? What is the song & the book?

Hmmm...I don't notice songs that remind me of books, but there is one exception. The song "Fall for You" by Second Serenade reminds me so much of If I Die by Rachel Vincent, particularly the scene of Tod and Kaylee's first night together as a couple. Specifically, the lyrics "Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you, over again. Don't make me change my mind, cause I won't live to see another day, I swear it's true."
If you've read the book, you'll see the connection.

So, what about you?

All My Life Cover Reveal + Gift Card Giveaway!

Like she’s the only girl in the world. His reverence is something too precious to lose. Perhaps even at the cost of losing him.

But Kari doesn't know why Neil calls her his ‘Angel’ and when she finds out, she realizes what love is all about. Boundless joy, unending longing and a load of heartache.

And, now for the cover (beware, this is an adult cover):

Simon has a mission of his own: to uncover the truth about the secret society he believes murdered his brother. All he needs is to get to the Redgrave journals before Kate does. Dirty Little Secret by Jennifer Echols + Featured Freebie

Dirty Little SecretFrom the author of the “real page-turner” (Seventeen) Such a Rush comes an unforgettable new drama that follows friends-turned-lovers as they navigate the passions, heartbreaks, and intrigue of country music fame.

Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.

Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before. She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…

My Rating: 2/5

I had really hoped to like this book. I loved a couple of this author's books, so I hoped that I would like this book just as much. But, I had one major issue that ruined the book for me.

Bloodspell by Amalie Howard + Featured Freebie

Bloodspell (Bloodspell, #1)
The spell was simple...

Cruentus Protectum (Defend the Blood)

But what do you do if your blood is your enemy?

Victoria Warrick has always known she was different. An outcast at school, she is no stranger to adversity. But when she receives an old journal for her seventeenth birthday, nothing prepares her for the dark secrets it holds -- much less one that reveals she's a witch with unimaginable power.

What's more, when she meets the dazzling but enigmatic Christian Devereux, she has no idea how much her life is about to change. Enemies will hunt her. Friends will turn on her. The terrible curse that makes her blood run black will stop at nothing to control her. And Christian has a sinister secret of his own...

Without knowing whom to trust, can Victoria survive her blood's deadly desires? Or will she lose everything, including herself?

My Rating: 4/5

A pleasant surprise. Bloodspell was a wonderful YA that featured a new idea beyond witches and vampires.

Feature and Follow #13

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow
Feature and Follow-a great way to *meet* new blogging buddies and gain new followers! F&F hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate -- ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?

Before I read Grave Mercy, I thought I would hate it. The whole "assassin nun" thing sounded cool, but I wasn't sure how that was going to be pulled off and I didn't quite get it in general. But, I like to give books a fair try so, when I got the chance to read an ARC of the book, I read it. And absolutely adored it. Forget pulling "assassin nuns" off, Grace Mercy blew my expectations straight out of the water. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try :)
BTW, so excited for the next book in that series! I finally get the copy I ordered online delivered today, so I'm itching to get my hands on it.

So, what about you?

The League of Illusions: Prophecy by Vivi Anna Blog Tour: Review

The League of Illusion: ProphecyLondon, 1851
With his brother Sebastian missing, illusionist Rhys Davenport is running out of time and leads. He knows only that Sebastian disappeared into Stonehenge and that an incomplete map is the key to finding him. And that the missing piece is in the possession of the unnervingly attractive psychic Corina Stratton.

Corina has no intention of giving her part of the map to the haughty Rhys Davenport. In fact, she needs to steal his half so she can heal her mother's malevolent spirit. She heads to London, only to be chased by a revengeful sorcerer right into Rhys's arms. Although touched by Rhys's plight, she agrees to go on his crazy quest only to get an opportunity to take what she came for.

With an airship full of fanatic elves after them, Rhys and Corina are forced into close quarters as they search for a portal. But to open it in time to find Sebastian, they must reconcile their differences and their growing feelings, or he'll be lost to them forever...

My Rating: 5/5

A wonderful steampunk romance! League of Illusion: Prophecy was a great read that blended fantastic steampunk and hot romance.

The characters in this novella were well developed. Despite the short length, I felt like I had gotten to know the characters.
Corina was a lovely heroine. She was very strong and admirable. I only had one thing about her that I didn't love. I didn't understand her determination to hold on to her mother's spirit after seeing her becoming a malevolent spirit. But, otherwise, I liked her.

Rhys was a great hero. He had a lot of depth, which is quite a feat in a novella. He was a sympathetic character. It was obvious early on that he had a lot of pain in his past. He was a remarkably powerful sorcerer, though he didn't know it yet. I adored him. He was sweet, strong, gentlemanly-basically perfect.
He and Corina were very sweet together. And they had sparks flying immediately and, when those sparks finally ignited, it was HOT.

The plot moved quickly but didn't feel rushed because of the short length. There were definitely a few thrills to be a had and a couple of surprises in store. The ending had me very curious to find out what happens next.

League of Illusions: Prophecy was lovely. Lovers of steampunk or romance, you should give this a read.
