2 Reviews: Legasea + Death by Chocolate + Featured Freebie

Legasea
Hello, everyone! Since both of these reviews are short, I decided to post them together. Enjoy!

When sixteen-year-old Aileen Shay sees a dead girl floating in the bay during a midnight yacht party, she never imagines Jamie Flannigan, her new boyfriend, may be involved. The only thing she knows about Jamie is that he personifies the one thing she has been drawn to her entire life – the ocean. But as she grows closer to him, she realizes he knows more about the murder than he's telling. When another girl is attacked, and Jamie refuses to answer her questions, Aileen searches for answers on her own.
Aileen learns that Jamie's family belongs more to myths and legends than they do in the real world. They are selkies, and after the Flannigans threaten her family, Aileen suspects they are responsible for both attacks.

But they aren't the only ones in her small fishing town who can keep a secret. As Aileen uncovers the truth about the murder, the selkies, and her own family, she learns why her soul is bonded to the sea. But with that revelation comes a choice – to permanently sever her connection with the water, which comes at a painful cost, or embrace a legacy that just might get her killed

My Rating: 2/5

Unfortunately, this wasn't my favorite book. I really liked the idea, but it fell a little flat.

Q: We always talk about books that WE want. Let's turn it on its head. What books have you given other people lately?

Hmm...
On my friend's birthday, I got her the book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. She'd been eyeing it for a while, so, when it came to a birthday present, I bought her the book.
And, this doesn't exactly count as giving a book, but I regularly bully by sister into reading books that I like because I want talk about them with her. I don't succeed very often.

So, what about you?

Falling into Paradise by Kamy Chetty Blog Tour + GIVEAWAY!

Welcome to my post for the Falling into Paradise Review tour! I have, of course, a review for you, as well as an excerpt and giveaway of the book. But, first, here's all about the book:

Falling Into Paradise

A woman too afraid to commit. A man too hurt to love again. A passion that refuses to be denied.

Sophie Redmond knew betrayal, she knew mistrust. She knew everything that was wrong with the world, until Damon Watson charmed his way into her life. The rules she used to shield her heart were broken one by one, as Damon showed her compassion and kindness. When no one else believes in her, he shows her hope. But is hope ever enough?

Damon knew trouble when he saw it. He was the sheriff. He could spot it a mile away and Sophie was trouble with a capital T. What was it about this City Slicker doctor that made him want to forget everything but those whiskey brown eyes and that honey blonde hair spilled against his naked chest.

Can Damon put the past behind him and choose to love again?

Reader Alert! Sophie thought sex was a game that could be controlled with rules, but add a playboy who knew every trick in the book, and she couldn’t help but throw her rule book away. Caution! Sophie and Damon tend to sizzle on the page as much as they do in bed, so take care to stock up on the ice!

And now for my thoughts:

My Rating: 4/5

Falling into Paradise was a fantastic book full of romance and emotion. A lovely read that will have you crying, smiling, and laughing.

Sophie was a tough character. She's been through a lot throughout her life and yet she still stands strong. She was a lovely heroine but, at one point, I got just a bit annoyed with her. Toward the end Sophie still doesn't trust Damon to be true to her. Even though her gave her absolutely no reason to believe otherwise and did so much for her, she still didn't trust him. I get that she had some serious trust issue, but, come on. After everything that he's done, how could she not trust him? It was a bit of a bother. But, otherwise, I really liked Sophie. She was a wonderful lead.

Damon was everything that is awesome He was so sweet and strong and clever and so nice. It was very easy to fall for him. At the beginning, our first impression of him is as a very hot player but it doesn't take long for us to see how much for there is to him than that.

Sophie and Damon were very cute together. Other than my frustration with Sophie's trust issue, I thought they were a sweet couple. And they are VERY hot in the bedroom. There was definitely quite a bit of spice in their relationship.

The plot of the book was stead. Towards the end, it stalled for a little, but it wasn't anything major. I was kept interested through the entire book. And the ending was so sweet and perfect.

Falling into Paradise is a wonderful book that I would definitely recommend to romance lovers.

*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Now, for the excerpt. WARNING: This is a very sizzling book and the excerpt reflects that, so be mindful of that before you read it.
____________________________________________________________

His eyes were gray. No blue. No gray. Damn she couldn’t tell. His finger was travelling down
her neck. Soft touches now. Down and down. She felt his finger graze the side of her breast. She
took a deep, deep breath and then she bit down hard on her lip.

“I’m collecting on that rain check. We could use a night out.”

There was only one explanation for her reaction. Men like Damon were born with the gene.
The fall-for-me or regret it forever gene. That was the only explanation. It certainly didn’t have
anything to do with his bad-boy attitude, or the uniform although she always had a thing for a
man in a uniform. But that was the old her. The less wise her. The her, who had let a man destroy
her future.

“Damon, I know your type and I don’t want to play.”

His finger had it reached Nirvana and she was finding it hard to think of more reasons not to say
yes. With his finger circling her nipple she could feel her blood racing, her breath slowing and
heat pouring from every pore.

Liquid heat rushed out shamefully warning her he was dangerous. But his fingers wouldn’t stop
and her nipples were highly sensitized. She could feel the ache and she wanted him to pull up her
shirt and feel his hands on her naked skin. But she couldn’t ask for it.

“Your nipples tell a different story. They tell me you want me as much as I want you.”

Her mouth dried.

“Stop.”

“Only if you ask me nicely.”

Radiant by Christina Daley Book Blitz + GIVEAWAY

Welcome to my post for the Radiant book blitz! I have an excerpt and a giveaway coming up, but first, let me acquaint you with the book:

Mary is part Vietnamese. Carter is a complete jerk. Normally, they don't talk much.

But when Mary's in an accident on the way to school one morning, Carter nearly dies saving her life. The doctors say his chances of living are slim, and Mary's feeling the full weight of survivor's guilt.

However, Carter's back at school in a matter of days, as if nothing had happened. Although, he is a little "glitchy," and he's developed a sudden and intense interest in Mary. She thinks he's suffering from major brain trauma from the accident. Or that he's been possessed.

As it so happens, Carter really is possessed. And the thing controlling him is having the time of its life learning to be human.

Featuring a diverse cast of characters, RADIANT is a funny "paranormal-lite" story about being human, being in love, and being healed.

And, now for the excerpt:
______________________________________________________________________
The bell rang again, and Mr. Hubert began the Pre-Calculus lesson. But Mary hardly paid
attention as she thought about what Sienna had told her. Was Carter really here at school? Now?
She only had her last class with him—Physics. He normally sat in the back with some of his
friends, while Mary took one of the lonely desks near the front. She'd have to wait until then to
see if he was in a body cast or something.

When Pre-Cal was finished, Mary gathered up her stuff and headed for the door with the
others as usual. But the moment she stepped outside, she collided with another person. "Gah!"
she cried as waves of pain surged through her bruised side, bringing her to her knees.

"Mary!" Sienna said as she came over to her. "Geez Carter. What's wrong with you?"

Mary looked up. The person she had run into was Carter Maxwell. He wasn't in a body cast
and he didn't have crutches or anything. He looked normal, actually. Except for the thick black
sweater he wore over his school uniform.

"I am sorry," he said. "I did not mean to cause harm." He then knelt down and looked Mary
in the eyes. There was a subtle spark of life in his green irises. "Are you all right, Mary?" he
asked.

She didn't say anything for a moment. Mary didn't know that Carter knew her name, and she
had never noticed he had green eyes before. Nor how nice they looked when he was concerned.
She shook her head quickly to break off his gaze. "No. I mean, yeah. I'm fine."

The corners of his mouth curled into a half-smile. "I am glad."

People were staring at them. Mary blushed under the added attention, and she quickly got to
her feet.

"Need help carrying your stuff?" Sienna asked.

"Thanks," Mary said. "But I'm just gonna swing by my locker. I'll be fine."

"All right. See you in Art." Sienna shot one last warning look at Carter before heading down
the hall.

Mary picked up her bag and turned the other direction. As she walked, she realized people
were still looking at her. That's when she noticed Carter was walking next to her. And he was
doing it in a really weird way. He made each step deliberate, like he was doing mini-lunges.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"I am walking," he said.

"Um. Okay." Mary looked forward again, thinking that when she got to her locker, he'd go
away. But he didn't. He stopped with her.

"I'm all right, Carter," she said. "You don't have to help me."

"Okay," he said.

Mary looked at him from the corner of her eye as she put her Pre-Cal stuff away and got her
Art things. "Are you all right?"

Carter smiled. "I am. Thank you for asking."

Sienna was right. Carter was acting weird. That bus sure did a job on his brain.

"Don't you have to go to class or something?" she asked.

"Yes," he said.

Mary closed her locker and headed towards Art. Carter followed. The halls were emptying
as kids got to their rooms, but it was still embarrassing with him lunging next to her. Mary
stopped and faced him. "Listen, Carter. I really am all right. You don't have to walk with me to
class." In fact, she preferred that he didn't.

He smiled. "You said that already."

"Yeah," she said. "So…stop following me."

Carter wrinkled his brow. "Do I make you uncomfortable? Walking with you like this?"

Give the man a prize. "Uh, yeah," Mary said. "Very."

He looked a little sad suddenly. "I am sorry. I will leave you alone." He turned and walked
down the other hall.

Mary felt bad. She didn't mean to make him sad. She just wanted him to stop following her.
She sighed and headed down the same hall to apologize. But when she got there, she didn't see
him. "Carter?"

He was nowhere. Despite the weird lunges, he apparently could move quickly.

That's when she remembered. For days, Mary had put herself through a series of guilt trips,
thinking Carter was going to die or end up a vegetable. She had never considered everything
going back to normal. Or, relatively normal. This was the first time she'd seen Carter since the
hospital, and she had forgotten to thank him for what he had done.

Feature and Follow #6

Feature and Follow-a great way to *meet* new blogging buddies and gain new followers! F&F hosted by Parajunkee andAlison Can Read.

Q: Write a letter to your favorite character. Rant, rave or gush…just pretend like they are real and you just want to let them know a "few things".
This was a tough choice for me, since I love so many characters :) But, in the end, here's who I wrote to:

Dear Harry Potter,
I miss you so much! It's been almost 2 years since your last movie came out and your story was completed. I still wave an imaginary wand around and go about saying ''wingardium leviosa," as if it would actually work for me. Alas, I am only a mere Muggle-if only I could do magic. It's my greatest wish to be able to just say "accio" to get something instead of actually having to get up for it :)
I hope your happy ever after went well and no more evil wizards sprung up with plans to take over the world. Say hi to Ron, Hermione, and Ginny for me!
Farrah

So, who would you write to?

Seeds of Discovery and Roots of Insight Tour + GIVEAWAY

Welcome to my stop for the Seeds of Discovery and Roots of Insight Tour! I have a lovely giveaway and a review of Roots of Insight for you, but, first, let me introduce the books:

Quinn Robbins' life was everything she thought a teenager's should be. She has good friends, a family that she loves, good grades, and an after-school job she enjoys. And, she's just been asked out by Zander Cunningham, a popular football player and great guy. But one day when driving home after picking up her little sister from the baby-sitter's, she nearly hits a boy who, after running blindly into the street, mysteriously disappears.
The mystery only deepens as she figures out who the boy is; William Rose, a reclusive, awkward boy from school who always has his nose in a pile of books.

As she becomes more aware of his behavior it becomes more obvious how out of the ordinary William is and how hard he deliberately tries to blend into the background. This only intrigues her more and she finds herself working to find out more about him, and exactly where he keeps disappearing to.
On a whim one night she follows him and suddenly finds herself in a new world. One where William is a prince, literally, and she is treated like a princess. She also discovers that she is stuck; the gate back to her own world isn't always open.

Quinn finds herself smack in the middle of a modern-day fairy tale, on a course that will change her life forever.

Quinn Robbins has just returned from spending ten days in Eirentheos, a world she had never known existed. Trying to settle back into her familiar life and establish a relationship with her new boyfriend, Zander, is more of a challenge than she ever dreamed it would be.

Things are just beginning to feel normal again when Thomas shows up in her world, and invites her back to Eirentheos for a royal wedding. She's excited at the chance to reconnect with the people and places she had begun to fall in love with.

What she doesn't realize is just how deeply connected with this new world she might become ... and just what old secrets might be beginning to unravel.

The second book in the beloved Dusk Gate series reconnects Quinn with the charming princes, and the pristine world of Eirentheos. From a beautiful royal wedding to a dangerous rescue mission, Quinn's adventures are about to take her life on a course that will change it forever.

And, now for my thoughts on book 2-Roots of Insight:
My Rating: 4/5

If you liked Seeds of Discovery, you will love Roots of Insight. This book was a lovely read, a perfect sequel to the series.

All the characters showed a lot of growth in this book.
Quinn grew so much. She grew more mature in the face of conflict and really proved herself. She has realized the dangers of straddling the line between two world and is starting to become pulled in two directions. She's a very strong heroine, but sometimes she would get stubborn about the wrong things and that was a bit frustrating, but, otherwise, Quinn was a lovely heroine.

We get to know William more in this book. He opens up to Quinn and we get to see more into his character. For those who have been suspecting hints of romance with Quinn and William...I won't say a word ;)
But, anyway, William revealed himself to be a strong character and a hero that will win your heart.

Thomas was, as always, a charmer. That handsome prince is so charming and endearing-I adore him. He shows a more serious side of himself during this book. And we get to see that he is not only a charming flirt, but a strong prince.

The plot of the book stalled in places, but, for the most part, it was fast paced and kept me interested. The ending was a greater cliffhanger than in book one and now I would dearly love to find out what happens next.

Roots of Insight was a worthy sequel-YA lovers, you should definitely check out this series.

That Kind Of Woman by Paula Reed + Featured Freebie

That Kind Of Woman"Just tell me why! Why is it that you could break every rule for my brother, but you cannot bend a single one for me?"

Upon the death of his older brother, suddenly Andrew Carrington has everything he never asked for: the title of Earl of Danford, a once-sweet daughter turned rebel, a rakehell younger brother -- and the temptation of his late brother's exquisite widow under his roof. It was scandalous enough when the late earl married the bastard daughter of a duke and his outrageous mistress, but if anyone were to learn the even more shocking secret Miranda Carrington hides, it would hurt everyone she loves, including handsome, take-charge Andrew -- the Carrington brother she wishes she had met first...

My Rating: 3/5

Not my favorite historical romance. I really hoped to like That Kind of Woman but, unfortunately, it didn't work out for me.

Well, I'm unabashedly book obsessed so I would do anything to get my hands on a book. Okay, not really. I'm too quiet to do anything too crazy. But, I would scream and lunge for any book that I thought I could reach. And if someone happened to get in my way...oops ;)
I would make sure to go home with a nice stack of new books :)

So, what would you do?

Double Enchantment by Kathryne Kennedy + Featured Freebie

Double EnchantmentToo Much of a Very Good Thing...

High society enjoys their power based on their rank, but Lady Jasmina Karlyle's magic causes nothing but trouble. Her simple spell has gone horribly wrong, and now she has a twin running around the London social scene wreaking havoc on her reputation. When both she and her twin get intimately involved with gorgeous shape-shifting stallion Sir Sterling Thorn, Jasmina finds herself in the impossible position of being jealous of herself...

Still Isn't Enough...

Sterling is irresistibly drawn to Jasmina. She seems to have two completely different sides to her personality though, and the confusion is driving him mad. Is love just the other side of lust...or is what he has with Jasmina much, much more than that?

But this Victor doesn’t know her, and turns her away. After the encounter, Nadine’s visions change to those of eerie fates, gods she’s never heard of, demons with sharp claws they are not too timid to use … and instructions.

To discover if she’s losing her mind, Nadine follows the vague directions—with the real, rude and reluctant Victor—leading to a man who knows it all: Nadine can restore an ancient cre
ed by unveiling the clues on her visions, and bring sunlight and peace to the world again. But that’s only if the demons and the other evil forces behind the darkness don’t stop her first.
