Deeper by Robin York

Deeper (Caroline & West, #1)
Release date: January 28, 2014
Publisher: Bantam
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Series: Caroline and West #1

In this New Adult debut by Robin York, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name—and stay clear of a guy who’s wrong for her, but feels so right.

When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he’s shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger—even after promising her dad she’ll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they’re “just friends,” their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself—and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

My Rating: 5 Roses

Sweet, steamy, and deeply emotional, Deeper, was a brilliant New Adult. I loved every bit of it. It was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to read more about Caroline and West in the next book. Loved it!

Caroline was a lovely heroine. She was a stereotypical good girl. She was obsessive about her grades, organized everything in her life, and had only ever been with one guy. Unfortunately, that one guy was a total ass who posted all of her sex pictures online when she broke up with him. And, that got her labeled as a slut, getting her, not just negative attention from those she went to school with, but threats and insults from people all over who saw her pictures online. To say she was in a bad situation was an understatement. But, she handled it all with a remarkable grace. She stood strong and, eventually, decided to fight back. I really liked her. I thought she was a lovely character.

West was also wonderful. He had a crush on her from when they first met, but her father had warned her away from him and she had listened. He wasn't exactly good news, with his reputation (which was true) for drug dealing and his rather dark past. But, he never stopped caring about her and defended her when her ass of an ex tried to harass her. I totally adored him. He was so sweet and determined to protect those he loved, from his little sister, to Caroline. I thought it was so sweet how he had been in love with Caroline for so long and that he wanted to be a better person for her when they started going out. I just loved everything about him. He was wonderful.

The romance was lovely. It developed slowly, as neither one of them wanted to start a relationship. But, it happened eventually and it was so sweet. They were perfect together and perfectly matched, in that they completely understood each other. I thought they were so cute as a couple. And, the chemistry between them was off the charts from the first moment they met. And, that led to some steamy scenes later down the line. After the ending, I don't know exactly how their relationship stands and I can't wait for the next book to see if they get their chance at a happy ending.

The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was so bittersweet. I can't wait to get my hands on book 2!

Deeper was a brilliant New Adult romance. I loved every part of it, from the characters, to the romance, to the wonderful story. It was absolutely fantastic and I totally loved it. Lovers of New Adult romance, this is a book you have to read.

I'm not a fan of New Adult. I'm just pretty wary of the genre at the moment, but this book sounds so good! West sounds so swoon-worthy! Definitely adding this to my TBR! ;D

  2. If you're looking to get into the New Adult genre, this book is a great place to start. It's definitely one of my favorite NA books :)
