Switched Blog Hop: Review + Giveaway!

Click on the banner for the full schedule.
Welcome to my post for the Switched blog hop! I have a review coming up, as well as giveaways for a Flirt mug and tote and a copy of Switched. But, first, allow me to introduce the book:

Switched
Release date: December 2, 2013
Publisher: Random House: Flirt
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Series: N/A

Ever since high school, Kayla has been crazy for gorgeous football player Talon. But before she could muster the courage to tell him, he became a hot item with her beautiful BFF, Reagan. The only person who knows Kayla’s secret is Wesley, Talon’s best bud—and he’s got it bad for Reagan. Now they’re all in college together, hanging out 24/7. For Kayla, seeing the two lovebirds together is absolutely unbearable. So Kayla and Wesley hatch a plot to drive them apart before Talon has a chance to give Reagan the Christmas gift she’s been waiting for.

Soon enough, the once happy couple is fighting. Reagan suddenly can’t get enough of Wesley’s goofy sense of humor, and Talon seems to be paying more attention to Kayla than a guy who’s “only a friend” ever should. But just when everything seems to be falling into place, Kayla and Wesley accidentally spend a night together and discover a hitch in their plan they never considered: that switching partners may not lead to a perfect ending after all.

My Rating: 4 Roses

Sweet, romantic, funny, and very entertaining, Switched was a fantastic New Adult romance. It was lighthearted, sweet, and truly enjoyable to read. I absolutely loved this book!

Kayla was a likable heroine. She was very real. By that I mean she felt like a real person, which made her easy to relate to. Her narration was hilarious. She always had an odd view about things, which was fun to read about. I really liked her, for the most part. I thought she was awesome.

Wesley was so adorable! He was so sweet and cute and utterly lovable. He always had a sarcastic comment ready, which added even more humor to the book. And, he was always thinking about others' feelings and considering them, which I thought was sweet. I thought he was just perfect and I adored him.

The romance was very sweet. I liked how it progressed. It went from Kayla and Wesley wanting other people, to them slowly noticing each other, to falling in love. It was adorable. And, though this book was a clean romance, the steaminess was still there. I liked that, once they both realized their feelings, they gave up on the whole switch thing and it became a matter of waiting for them to be able to admit it to each other. Rather difficult when they had spent weeks talking about how they wanted and would get someone else, but they finally did. I really liked them together. I thought they were a lovely couple.

I only had a couple of minor complaints about this book, which is what knocked own the rating. First, I thought it was selfish for Kayla to want to break up her best friend's relationship. Wesley had reservations and wanted to make sure that he didn't hurt his friend but Kayla wanted to just go right ahead. She gave the excuse that she didn't see that Reagan and Talon were truly in love, but I thought that was just her seeing what she wanted to see. I didn't mind the idea, considering it was the basis of the book. I even thought it was well executed in a way the made the situation humorous rather than manipulative, but I just wish she had been more considerate of other people's feelings. The other complaint is something at the end that I can't say without giving away one of the biggest surprises. It involved the workings of the plan and it struck me as unrealistic. A little too convenient. Both of these issues were minor and didn't hinder my enjoyment of the book as a whole. They were just a little annoying. Otherwise, I had no issues with this lovely book.

The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. The story was a ton of fun and truly enjoyable. I was thoroughly entertained while reading it. And I thought the ending was super sweet.

Switched was a lovely New Adult romance. It was fun, sweet, romantic, lighthearted, entertaining, and truly enjoyable. It was the kind of fun read that just makes you smile and laugh and feel all warm inside. I absolutely loved it! Lovers of romance, if you want something fun and light to make you smile, then you have to read this book.

Quotes:
His fingers leave my hip and land on my cheek. He strokes my face, twirling my curls in his hand, and I'm about to lose it.

"I...I don't think I want to do this anymore."

This? What's "this"? Us? Or the plan? Which do I want him to mean more?

He stops playing with my hair and squeezes me, holding  me as if I'll slip through his fingers if he loosens his grip. I don't mind. But it's seriously giving me physical reactions I can't control anymore, and my nails dig into his back before I realize it.

I don't think I want to do this either. I just have to figure out what "this" is.
