Forgiving him for ruining her life might not be so impossible after all. But when she actually starts to like him and realizes he likes her in return, their true anguish begins.

My Rating: 5 Roses

Deep, emotional, heartbreaking, sweet, and just absolutely amazing, Fighting Fate was a brilliant read. I loved every little bit of it, from the characters, to the romance, to the emotions. It was complete and total perfection. I LOVED this book!

I had very high expectations for this book. I read another one of Linda Kage's books before (Price of a Kiss) and it became one of my favorite books of the year. So, I had high hopes for this book. And, it met every one of them. Linda Kage has a gift for writing likable heroines, heartbreaking heroes, and romance that is both sweet, steamy, and heartbreaking. After reading this, she's definitely on my favorite author list and I can't wait to see more from her. But, now on to the actual book...

Paige was a great heroine. She has been through a lot, but she still stands strong. She does a lot of growing in this book. Before moving to a new area for college, everything around her reminded her of her brother and that kept her trapped in the past. But, moving to a new place, she learned to move on and live for herself. She's a truly kind person at heart so, even though she originally hates Logan for his part in her brother's death, she empathizes with the pain he went through and, well, things happen from there. I really liked her. I thought she was a lovely character.

Logan...
This boy broke my heart. He was so amazing and wonderful and I totally fell for him. He felt crushing guilt for Trace's death and spent the years since basically punishing himself. He refused to allow himself any pleasure because he felt like he didn't deserve it. He hated himself and lived in fear that the few friends he gained would abandon him if they found out the truth. But, there was no denying that this boy was so sweet. He was humble and kind and so absolutely devoted to Paige. He was brilliant and amazing and I just wanted to give him a hug. I thought he was just perfect.

The romance was lovely. I really liked how it progressed. It would have been unrealistic if it happened quickly, but that wasn't the case. It slowly progressed from Paige hating Logan, to seeing the pain he was in, to slowly softening towards him, before falling in love even came into the equation. I really appreciated that, because it would have ruined the book if the romance wasn't done precisely. Paige and Logan were so sweet together. They feelings for each other were obvious as they slowly grew. They were just perfect for each other. And, of course, there was some intense chemistry between them. That wasn't really the focus of their relationship, though, since it was more about Paige forgiving and falling in love with Logan. But, there was no denying the sparks between them and the few scenes where they got together were steamy. I thought these two were perfect together.

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. The emotions in this book were well portrayed, deep and intense. There were a few thrills, with what happened near the end. I suspected it, but that didn't stop the whole thing from being a shock. I really enjoyed the story and I thought the ending was perfect.

Fighting Fate was a brilliant New Adult read. It was deeply emotional, heartbreakingly romantic, and a truly wonderful read. Lovers of New Adult romance you have to read this book.
