The Wager (The Bet, #2)
Release date: October 1, 2013
Publisher: Forver
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Series: The Bet #2

Lose a bet, lose your heart...

What is it about a junior-high crush that can send an otherwise intelligent woman into a tailspin? TV reporter Char Lynn wishes she knew. Jake Titus is too rich, too handsome, too arrogant: a trifecta that once lured Char into the best night-and worst morning-after-of her life. Now they've been thrown together in a wedding party. It's awkward, but survivable . . . until Jake stops acting like a jerk, and starts acting like the man she'd always hoped he could be.

If watching your brother marry your best friend is weird, being attracted to your best friend's other best friend is downright bizarre. Unfortunately for Jake, Char hasn't forgotten how he once tossed her aside. Worse still, Jake's already-nutty grandma is even crazier about Char. Cue meet-cute shenanigans and all manner of meddling, and somehow, Jake's falling. For Char. Now all he has to do is make her believe it . . .

My Rating: 5 Roses

Super sweet and steamy and a brilliant read! The Wager was a fantastic New Adult romance. I loved the story, the characters, just everything. Loved this book!

Char was a strong heroine. She went from a very self conscious adolescent, to a very successful woman. And, she's determined to keep that past where it belongs. But, when Jake comes along, her insecurities come back. Along with her feelings for Jake. I really liked her. I thought she was a great character, one that was easy to relate to. She might have still been head over heels for Jake, but she knew to make him grovel a bit. She was a lovely heroine.

I'm going to be honest, Jake really pissed me off in book 1. He was selfish and arrogant, and used others for his own gain. So, I didn't know how he would become the hero of this book. It was a rocky road, but he did just that. He grew up, realized his mistakes, and changed for the better. Sped along by his crafty grandma and his feelings for Char. He became truly sweet and adorable. And, it was fun to see him humble himself a little :) By the end of this book, I completely adored him.

The romance was sweet and steamy. Char and Jake were very sweet together. Neither had completely let go of their feelings for the other. They had just wallowed in denial for a bit. And, I thought it was really sweet seeing how Jake slowly realized what had been right under his nose the whole time. When he did, nothing was going to stop him from getting it. And the chemistry between them was on fire. Very hot! I thought they were a lovely couple.

All the other characters were great. We see Kacey and Travis again, and how their relationship is going. They were as sweet together as ever. And, Grandma was SO funny. I love her character! She's is one of my favorite parts of this series. She's so outrageous and crafty and just tons of fun.

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was fantastic. There was a possibility of a relationship between two other characters and I hope we get another book out of them, because I love this series.

The Wager was a brilliant New Adult romance. I loved this book! The romance was hot, the characters were wonderful, and the story was fantastic. Lovers of NA, this is a book you have to read.
