The Only One Book Tour: Review + Excerpt + Giveaway!

Welcome to my for The Only One book tour! I have a review of this wonderful book coming up, as well as an excerpt and a giveaway for a necklace and a couple of other awesome prizes. But, before we get to all that, allow me to introduce the book:

The Only One
Release date: October 10, 2013
Publisher: Beautifully Broken Books
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Series: N/A

Honor student, manager at the campus coffee shop, owner of an impressive sweater collection – Melanie Wilder has it all together. Then John “John Boy” Walden strolls into her life wearing nothing more than an impish grin and all-too-revealing loin cloth.

Soon, make-out sessions replace homework, lust triumphs over work. And to further crumble her perfect world, an unexpected phone call threatens to take away everything she’s worked for.

Now, as Melanie struggles to pick up the pieces, she realizes that John may be the only one to put her life back together…unless he shatters it first.

Their differences threaten to tear them apart, unless they can make one another their only exception.

My Rating: 5 Roses

Sweet, steamy, and a wonderful New Adult read. The Only One was a fantastic romance. I loved it! The romance was sweet, the emotions were deep, and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Melanie is a deceptively strong heroine. She doesn't seem like it at first, since a quiet kind of person. But, when it comes down to it, she can handle anything life throws at her. And it throws her one hell of a curve ball. I really liked her. I thought she was a great character.

John was amazing. This guy is so adorably, charmingly, unbelievably sweet! I just adored him. I loved how he was so determined to stand by Melanie when she needed him, even when she tried to push him away. Nothing was going to stop him from being there for her. There was one point in the beginning where I wanted to whack him upside the head for doing something so stupid. But, other than that, I thought he was perfect and lovable and a brilliant character.

The romance was both sweet and steamy. Their feelings for each other grew steadily and it was sweet to read. I loved how John was so intent on being there for Melanie. And, the chemistry between them was there from the moment they met. And, when all that sexual tension finally exploded, it was super hot. Also, it might just be the Potter nerd in me, but I loved how Harry Potter was a constant facet of their relationship. Potterhead soulmates :)

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. I really enjoyed the story and I thought the ending was perfect.

The Only One was a wonderful New Adult romance. It was sweet, steamy, and full of emotion. I totally loved it! Lovers of New Adult romance, this is a book you'll want to read.

Quotes:
"Now let's go back to your place and bake shit and watch Harry Potter."
"Are you serious?" I raised an eyebrow.
He pulled me forward and I walked with him, hand in hand, through the tunnel to the parking garage.
"Serious as Hell, Red. You've been through enough shit today and nothing makes a day better than baked goods and Harry Potter."-John and Melanie

Excerpt:

He took a few steps toward me, his eyes locked on mine. “Red, as bad as I want you too, I’m not here to have sex with you. I want to sleep with you. Next to you. I want to lay in that bed with you and wake up to your beautiful face in the morning. Can we do that or is it too much and you need to kick me out?”

I exhaled and couldn’t hide the smile that spread across my face. Damn him for making me fall so hard. I kept telling myself I shouldn’t be with him and then he would go and say something like that. “Yeah, that’s fine. But I need to get ready for bed, so you can watch TV or something if you want while I do that.”

I turned around, thinking he would make himself comfortable on the couch, but instead he followed me to the bathroom. I stared at his reflection behind me in the mirror. “Um, do you need to use it first?”

“No…” He rubbed the back of his neck. “But if you have an extra toothbrush, that’d be great.”

“Oh, yeah. Totally.” I opened my medicine cabinet and pulled out an open pack of toothbrushes, handing him the blue one.

“Thanks.”

“No problem.”

I put the other one back in the cabinet and then pulled out the toothpaste, handing it to him when I was done. I was used to sharing a bathroom with my sister, but never a guy. It was amazing how comfortable it felt to brush my teeth alongside him. The guy that was just giving me an orgasm only two hours before. We took turns using the sink and he made silly faces in the mirror at me the entire time.

When he was done he rinsed off his toothbrush and put it in the holder next to mine.

“For next time.”

“Next time?” I raised my eyebrows.

“You don’t think this is a onetime thing, do ya, Red?”

“I guess we’ll see if you’re still saying that after tonight.”

“I’m sure I will be.” He kissed the top of my head. “As long as you keep this silky thing on when you come into bed. I kinda like it.” His fingertips brushed against the thin material above my belly button briefly before he stepped out of the bathroom.

  1. I do like these types of romances, and it definitely sounds like an interesting book. I will probably look into this when I get tired of reading young adult all the time!
