A Desperate Vow

Tormented by the deaths of his wife and child, Griffin Blackmoor spends his days drowning his grief in whiskey. But when a bullet that was meant for him kills his best friend, Griffin makes a promise to the dying man that will thrust him back into London Society and into the path of the one woman who could make his life worth living again.

A Leap of Faith

The daughter of a drunkard, Lady Anne Carmichael swore she would never love a man like Griffin Blackmoor. But when he rescues her during her darkest hour, Anne cannot ignore the effect Griffin's haunted eyes or his soul-stirring kiss have on her guarded heart. He is everything she never wanted. So why does his love feel like exactly what she needs?

My Rating: 3 Roses

An okay romance. I didn't love it, but I did like it. It was a sweet and enjoyable read.

Anne was a good heroine. I liked her. She was a strong character who wouldn't let anyone run all over her. She was okay and a likable heroine.

Griffin was rather frustrating. On one hand, he was sweet and I understood why he broke down so thoroughly. One the other, he was very determined to throw a pity party. That's all well and good, but when it started to affect Anne, it went too far. Especially with his refusal to think about being with her. But, overall he was a sweet hero that I liked.

The romance was sweet, no spicy in this book. Anne and Griffin were sweet together and I loved how their relationship helped Griffin heal. I thought they were a cute couple.

The plot was okay. It was steadily paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. I enjoyed the story, but nothing really stood out for me. It was enjoyable, but unremarkable, the kind of book that you finish, vaguely acknowledge you enjoyed it, then forget it. But, it was a good read, if you want something to pass a couple of hours. I liked the story and the ending was lovely.

A Risk Worth Taking was a good historical romance. While not particularly outstanding, I did like it. If you want a light, sweet read to pass the time, this is a book you might want to check out.
