Welcome to my post for the Scorched Treachery book tour! I LOVE this series and this latest addition was fantastic. I have a review coming up, as well as a giveaway for a $50 gift card. But, before we get to all that, allow me to introduce the book:

Release date: July 11, 2013
Publisher: Self
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Series: Imdalind #3

While Joclyn is trapped in the tormenting hell of Cail’s mind, the battle around her only continues to grow and spread.

Edmund has infiltrated the underground hallways of Prague, guiding the massacre that would end the lives of the last of the great magical race. In her attempts to stop him, Wynifred has been captured and her magic restrained. Chained up in the ancient dungeons of Prague, her fate is left in the hands of her father, who has tried to kill her before. With Ryland’s screams and Sain’s fragmented sights as her only company, Wyn must rely on something that has been hidden deep inside of her for centuries to help them break free.

Ilyan’s whole life has been building up to one purpose. Protect the Silnį»³. He knows what he must do, and he has no doubt in his ability to do so. But when his father’s magic removes Joclyn’s mind from her body, he is left protecting the shell of the one person he loves. Desperate to find a way to break her free of her prison, he makes a choice. And that one choice changes everything. Now, Ilyan finds himself bound to Joclyn in a way that he never knew to be possible. They say that blood is thicker than water, but Black Water burns, and Ilyan’s heart may not be strong enough to keep it pumping through his veins and give the girl he loves back into his brother’s care. Even if he can, it may not be safe to do so.

My Rating: 5 Roses

A brilliant addition to this fantastic series! Scorched Treachery had secrets, surprises, thrills, and a sprinkle of romance. I loved this book!

For those who have read the series, this book is set in the time when Joclyn is trapped inside Cail's mind and can't get out. While she was battling inside her head, the battle continued outside. And, this book tells us about what happened while Joclyn was away.

Scorched Treachery was told in two point of views: Ilyan and Wyn, so I'll talk about those two first.

Ilyan was as sweet as ever. If you hadn't fallen for him already, you don't stand a chance in this book. He's so sweet and strong and a born leader and totally devoted to his loved ones. Goodness, I just love him. We see more of how he thinks, especially how he thinks of Joclyn, which is why I wanted to swoon over him several times. But, also, we see him as a leader. He's definitely strong and worthy of that title. I adored him in this book.

Wyn was also wonderful. We find out some huge secrets about her past that I never saw coming. Wow. I'm still trying to absorb it all. Her past is definitely messy. But, knowing all that made me appreciate her character as a whole even more. She was strong, loyal, and not someone you want to mess with.

The romance factor was very limited, since any love interests were unconscious. That goes for both narrators. But, it was still there, through the memories and thoughts Ilyan and Wyn had for their loved ones. In both cases, it was sweet.

We see how much of a mess Ryland is in this book. I know he's technically the "enemy" in that he wants to hurt Joclyn. But, seeing what his father does to him, I can't feel anything for him but sadness. He was such an amazing person. And he's been destroyed beyond recognition. It was heartbreaking to see. Just thinking about his fate makes me tear up. I hope that, somehow, he gets a happy ending. I don't know if that's even possible, but that poor guy deserves peace after all he's been through.

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. There were twists, turns, secrets, and surprises. Prepare yourself, because there are some emotional deaths in this book. The end of this book gets us to where we ended in Eyes of Ember so that we're all ready for the next book. And I can't wait to get my hands on it. I can't wait to read Soul of Flame! After everything that happened in the past two books, it's bound to be amazing.

Scorched Treachery was a brilliant book. I totally loved it! For fans of the series, you won't be disappointed. For those who haven't started this series yet, you definitely should because it's fantastic.

The scar is the reason she is being hunted.

If only she knew that she was.

If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her. Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air.

  1. Okay, I know there was a lot of there in the synopsis, but I had to comment: Prague. I love Prague! It's a gorgeous city, and a wonderful setting for a novel.

  2. I will definitely be snagging the first book (because it's free and I hate jumping into the middle of a series) but in all honesty, this sounds like it would be right up my alley. Thanks for sharing!
