Ever since she could remember, Elle has had to hop from town to town to keep up with her dad's demanding career as a corporate insurance agent. Each time, a reoccurring nightmare followed her wherever she went--until the day that the frightening figures haunting her at night became all too real. When news of a serial killer spreads throughout her new school, Elle worries that the Reaper has been leaving her his calling card in the form of cigarette butts on her doormat and an unusual ribbon in her locker. With the help of Brian, a boy she meets at a flea market, she discovers that this isn't her first encounter with the murderer and that her father has been concealing her true identity for the past twelve years. But despite her father's desperate attempts to protect her, Elle still comes face to face with the darkness she has been running from her whole life. Trapped in the woods and with help hundreds of miles away, will Elle be able to confront the Reaper and reclaim the life she lost?

I’m a voracious reader and I love a good romance, the kind that pinks my cheeks and makes my toes curl. It’s my favorite aspect of everything I read. So, it’s no surprise that romance finds a way into everything I write, even if it’s not the main story arc. I think attraction and chemistry are too amazing and abundant in life to cut them out of anything. Even if the story’s about a lunatic serial killer….there’s got to be love. (Not for the killer.) For the heroine of course. And if her life’s in danger, she needs a kickA hero. I adore alpha male and this story definitely needed one, but YA alphas can be tricky because of girl power and all that. If the average high school guy went all alpha on my heroine, he’d need an ego check between the legs. I didn’t want to hurt him, so I needed to think outside the box a little. In the interest of not having readers hate my hero for being an alpha, I had to go another route.
It gets a little dicey. My heroine is seventeen. Her hero is…not. In fact, age aside, there are a number of reasons they should keep their hands to themselves, but here’s the thing about attraction…no one wants to keep their hands to themselves. Ahhh, that’s the beauty of it all. Butterflies. Should I touch his hand so he knows I’m here? Was he looking at me? What was that flirty comment supposed to mean? Does he know it was flirty? Did he intend to brush across my arm just now? Can he hear my heart beating because it’s about to break my ribs! *Swoony sigh*
Add in some danger, ratchet up the tension and there is no way these two weren’t falling in love. They become best friends in a short period thanks to intense circumstances and necessity. Their friendship was unavoidable, really, and in many ways, their relationship is epic and adorable and amazing. What they have is so much more than attraction, though that’s a fun place to begin. These two were meant for one another. Destined. Cosmically intertwined. They fill in the missing pieces to one another’s life puzzle. Elle needs a constant. Nicholas needs an anchor. They save one another in this story, the Reaper is only a catalyst for their romance. These two are an amazing couple who will always have a place in my heart. If I could write an epilogue for them, it would include their great grandchildren.
Hot Marshals, romance AND a serial killer. I mean, what’s not to love?
Up for grabs are the prize packs listed on the rafflecopter and shown below. Ends October 8.
