Witching Blog Tour & Scavenger Hunt: Interview + Hint #1 + Giveaway!

Welcome to my post for the Witching blog tour, organized by Itching for Books! I have an author interview coming up, along with the first hint for the scavenger hunt and a giveaway for a copy of Witching. But, before we get to that, let me first introduce the book:

Release date: November 29, 2012
Publisher: Lycaon/Breathless Press
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Series: Curse of Kin #1

Nera is a normal teenage girl living in Ireland-or so she thought. Her world is forever changed when she discovers that she is descended from a long line of witches. To her horror she finds she is the one that is supposed to stop the curse that has taken the life of every girl before her. As if that isn't enough, she must learn to use magic and her trainer is a man named Bones. He is the son of Mari, Queen of the Witches, and a god. It is Bones that has been entrusted to teach her the skills she needs to stay alive, which wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have an uncanny knack for pushing her buttons. Can Nera learn what she needs while staying immune to the charms of the man that gets under her skin at every opportunity?

Ari HarperAuthor Interview:

Ari Harper never wanted to grow up.
To offset the limitations of aging ungracefully, she created her own set of unique worlds where she can be and do whatever she wants.

Gods, witches and demons surround Ari while she spins her magic, doing mainly what they tell her to do. Given a chance, she prefers to work amongst chaos, which is good because she is constantly surrounded by children, all clamoring for attention. Some of them end up in her stories, some of them even get to die grisly deaths or be cast away to another realm.

Welcome to Imagine a World! I'm so glad you could be here.
Thanks for having me, I love visiting and this place looks great. Do you mind if I look around later? *peers around the corner*
(lol, go ahead :))

What is the hardest part about writing for you? The easiest?
Usually I find the hardest part is the middle. I get the beginning and sometimes the end. It's what happens in between I find more difficult and that could just be because my characters don't want to do what I want them to.

If your book was made into a movie, who would you want to play your characters?
Everyone I can think of is already tied to a character in a movie. I think I would have to have unknowns.

What do you do when you get writer’s block?
I don't believe in writers block. I think it's more a case of not liking what is coming to me. If I get stuck I usually go for a walk and churn things over in my mind.

Are there any authors in particular (living or dead) who inspire you?
Stephen King. His book 'On Writing' is now dog eared in my book case. Brilliant advice for writers in there.

Do you have any upcoming books you’re working on? Can you tell us a little about it?
I'm working on the edits for the second book in the Curse of Kin Series, Changling. It should be out shortly. Book Three 'Treason' is almost ready to send to my editor. :)

If you could go back in time (to any time at all), what time period would you go to and why?
I think the most I would go back to would be the time when I was in high school and couldn't wait to leave. Now I would give it more thought and probably head in a different direction. Not to necessarily go onto to university, but more in 'where am I heading job wise' and I think that would be true of a lot of people in hindsight. But being young it is hard to decide what to do with your life. I never wanted to be a writer until my kids left home.

Summer or winter?

Cat or dog?
I have a big black labrador named Hugo who stars in the Witchling as himself and is Nera's constant shadow.

Tea or coffee?
Tea, weak and black on tap.

Book or movie?
Book for sure.

Bad boy or boy next door?
Can I have both?
(Ha! Best answer ever. I would totally say that, too)

Thanks for coming! It was great having you :)
Thanks for having me. I'll just slip off and have a poke around now if that's alright.

And, now for the hint!
