What a Wicked Earl Wants by Vicky Dreiling + Featured Freebie

What a Wicked Earl Wants (The Sinful Scoundrels, #1)WILL A RAKE'S WICKED WAYS
Andrew Carrington, Earl of Bellingham, believes in being a gentleman, whether it's fishing a soggy stranger out of the Thames or assisting a fetching lady into his bed. If the stranger becomes a friend and the lady a mistress, all the better. He certainly welcomes the opportunity to help Laura Davenport, a dazzling young widow with a rebellious stepson. Her gratitude, he hopes, will take an amorous form. But from the moment he sets foot in her drawing room, he gets far more than he bargained for ...

LEAD THE LADY ASTRAY?

It was a moment of desperation. On the brink of losing her stepson, Laura turned to the notorious Lord Bellingham for help. Suddenly she, a vicar's daughter, is in the precarious position of resisting his tantalizing advances. How Bell earned his wicked reputation is clear; the surprise is how much more there is to him than the gossip sheets could possibly reveal. Now every moment with this dangerously desirable man puts Laura's good name at risk-and promises pleasure unlike any she has ever known ...

My Rating: 5 Roses

A wonderful historical romance! What a Wicked Earl Wants was a great read, thoroughly enjoyable.

First off, let me say how gorgeous that cover is. It is SO pretty. I just love it.
Now to the actual book.

Laura was a wonderful heroine. She cares deeply for her stepson, who is going through some teenage rebellion, and would do anything to keep him from having to live with his odious uncle. She was strong in her determination to keep her stepson, but she also knew when to ask for help. I liked that she wasn't the kind to  hold a petty grudge and forgave. Honestly, I had nothing but good to say about her.

Andrew was just as awesome. I adored him. He was so sweet and gentlemanly and everything a hero should be. I loved that he not only wanted to help Laura, but he also genuinely cared for her son and wanted to help him. I wanted to shake him a few times because of his stubborn stance to not get pulled into a relationship and certainly not get married. It made him refuse to see what was right in front of him. But, I still loved him. Regardless of any stubbornness, he was just perfect.

The romance in this book was brilliantly done. There were sparks flying between them immediately. Their relationship was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Stubbornness on both sides (though mostly Andrew's) kept them apart for a while, but they found a way together anyway. It was so adorable.

I loved how Laura's stepson wasn't just a side note. He played a bigger role in the book than just a convenient excuse to get the couple together. Despite his rebelliousness, he was a sweet guy. He just let himself get pulled into bad situations. It was so sweet how he really cared for his stepmother. He was the one who gave the "if you hurt her, you're dead" speech to Andrew. He was a great character.

The plot was well paced. A few times, it hit a snag, but it picked up again quickly. I was hooked the entire way through and the ending was perfect. I can' wait to read the next book for Colin's story.

What a Wicked Earls Wants was a brilliant historical romance. Lovers of the genre, you should definitely read it.
