The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden #2) by Julie Kagawa

The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2)
Check out my review of book 1 in the Blood of Eden series-The Immortal Rules. Go here.

Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

My Rating: 5/5

So amazing-even better than the first! The Eternity Cure was totally epic. Loved it!

This book ups the stakes on everything. It took everything that made The Immortal Rules amazing-wonderful characters, endless thrills, shocking surprises, unprecedented secrets-and did it even better. I swear, whenever I think Julie Kagawa has topped herself, she proves me wrong and comes up with ever more amazing books!

The character growth in this book was spectacular. Allison grew so much. She became a stronger character and faced the new challenges thrown at her admirably. She also came to terms with her life as a vampire. She began to actually accept the reality of being a vampire. She's officially on my list of favorite heroines. She's a total beast and I'm definitely a huge fan.

I was worried that I wouldn't see much of Zeke in this book since Allie left him behind at Eden. But, I was ecstatic to find that he played an even bigger role in this book. If I really liked him in The Immortal Rules, I fell head over heels for him in this book. He might have been a human in a world of vampires, but he definitely proved himself. He was not someone to mess with, particularly when someone he cared about was in danger. He was just so amazing-strong, sweet, selfless, clever. Basically, he was absolute perfection. We get to know him much more in this book and, as I said, that made me love his so much more.

We also get to know Kanin more. After finding out the truth about his past, I like him even more. He made a mistake and he's determined to make up for it no matter what. I really admired him for that. I started to get truly emotionally invested in his character.

Jackal, Allie's blood brother, surprised me in this book. After what happened in the previous book, I was fully prepared to hate him. But, he actually grew on me. He's self-serving and will only help as long as it works for him. But I still kind of liked him. He added a lot of humor to a grim situation with his remarks-most of which were wildly inappropriate in context but still had me laughing. Kind of like a certain red-haired faerie. By the end, I actually liked him and I can't wait to see more of him.

Sarren was an interesting antagonist. I'm still not sure what to make of him. He's completely insane, like totally messed up in the head. What he has planned kind of made sense in a twisted way, but it was still terrible. I can't truly hate him even though I think he definitely needs to die. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what happens with him next.

The thrills in this book had me on the edge of my seat. There was even more danger in this book than in book 1 and seeing the characters navigate through it had me hooked. The secrets revealed literally made my jaw drop. They are definite game-changers. And the ending left me shell-shocked. I still can't wrap my head around what happened. I'm dying to find out what happens next-I need to get my hands on book 3!

The Eternity Cure was absolutely amazing. It was utter perfection, there was literally nothing less than magnificent about it. If you liked The Immortal Rules you will adore this book. Any lover of YA has to read this series!
