The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen + Featured Freebie

The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1)
A rule-breaker with a fiery attitude, Ella always wore her heart on her sleeve. Then she left everything behind to go to college, where she transformed into someone who follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. Now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home. But once there, Ella fears that everything she's worked so hard to bury might resurface-especially with Micha living right next door.

Smart, sexy, and confident, Micha can get under Ella's skin like no one else. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. If he tries to tempt the old Ella to return, he will be impossible to resist. But what Ella doesn't realize is that when she left, she took a piece of Micha's heart with her. Now he's determined to win back the girl he lost, no matter what it takes

My Rating: 4/5

A sweet romance about best friends-turned lovers. Absolutely wonderful!

I think I mention it every time a review a book with this plot arc, but I LOVE romances about best friends who fall in love. I just love the idea of it so much. So, I had high expectations for The Secret of Ella and Micha, and it totally met them.

Ella was a troubled heroine. Several months before the plot of the book begins, she ran away from everything in her old life after her mother killed herself. And, now, she's trying to be perfectly controlled in order to avoid the same insanity that took hold of her mother. The one weak point of the book was that I got so frustrated with her tendency to just run away when things got difficult. I couldn't understand why she fought her best friend so hard, reluctant to even spend time with him. He was her best friend, the person she admitted to feeling the most comfortable with, even considering what occurred the night before she left. So it didn't make sense to me that she resisted that part of her life so much.

But besides that, I liked her. Once she stopped trying to push everything in her old life away, she was very likable. She was very realistic, like an actual person rather than a flat character. If anything, though I didn't like the fact that she was running away, I though her determination to make something of her life was admirable. By the end of the book, she had grown on me.

Micha was utter perfection. He was so sweet and I adored him. He was everything a love interest should be-sweet, strong, determined. Just the fact that he was willing to do whatever he had to do to bring the old Ella back showed how wonderful of a guy he was. He was just perfect-there isn't much more to say than that.

Ella and Micha had such a wonderful relationship. They were very sweet together. Because they were already best friends, a deep relationship was already there. Seeing it turn into romantic love was so cute. Though these two were definitely steamy together, there was no going all the way in this book-but we'll see if that happens in the next book-The Forever of Ella and Micha

The plot was well-paced and the only time it dragged was when Ella was resisting going back to her old life. Otherwise, the plot kept me interested all the way through. The ending was very sweet and left a definitely segue into the next  part of their story-which I'm really excited about.

The Secret of Ella and Micha is a lovely New Adult romance. To any lovers of the genre, you should give it a read.
