Welcome to my post for the Second Rae Chances Blog Tour. I have a review of this lovely book coming up, along with a giveaway of a copy. For now, let me introduce the book:
After countless visits with her shrink and too many sleepless nights waiting for the one man she loves to walk back through the door, Lil wants nothing more than to separate herself from the life she used to have. But the moment Sam smiles at her, Lil knows it's going to take more than self-restraint to stay away.
Second-Rate Chances is about a young man fighting to regain his memory, and the one thing in his life that felt real. A modern-day Samson and Delilah, it's a look at what it means to love and be loved, and to fight though it seems hopeless.
My Rating: 5/5
A remarkably sweet, emotional book. Second Rate Chances was a brilliant romance that I adored!
I loved the idea of this book. The whole thought of a couple who drifted apart getting a second chance in an unconventional way sounded so sweet to me. And Second Rate Chances definitely lived up to my expectations.
Lil was a very sympathetic heroine. She's only just begun to get over her relationship with Sam after three years. That may seem like she was pining-I mean, 3 years is a long time-but, when you learn the circumstances behind their fall out, it is totally understandable. I really liked her character. She proved to be strong, kind, intelligent, and an all-around lovely heroine.
Sam was a conundrum. It is clear from the beginning that something had happened 3 years ago that caused his relationship with Lil to end, along with a collapse in his old friendships and relationship with his family. So, though I liked his character immediately, I felt that I had to reserve judgement until I found out those circumstances. Regardless, the part of him that we see is the man he was before that event and that part was definitely lovable. He was so sweet and adorable. And, when I learned the circumstances that led to all the drama, I thought it was very understandable, though not commendable. I loved the complexity of this character. By the end, I adored him.
I really liked how the emotions in the book were so well done. I felt each of the deep emotions of the characters, so I have to commend the author for her mastery in conveying emotion.
The plot moved very quickly. The mystery of what happened to cause the break-up had me on the edge of my seat, hooked all the way through. And the revelation had my jaw dropping. The ending was lovely-sweet and a perfect wrap-up for the story.
Second Rate Chances was a delightful romance that had deep emotion, secrets, and surprises. Any romance lover, you should definitely read this.

I'm a mother first, a wife second, and a writer third. I'm so thankful to have been given this chance to get my stories out of my head and onto paper.
When I'm not writing, I sell plumbing (no I'm not kidding) and read romances that leave my heart a flutter. I know a ridiculous amount of pop culture information and can quote certain movies word for word. Music drives me to write and to also sing off key.
