Legacy of the Clockwork Key by Kristin Bailey Blog Tour + GIVEAWAY!

Welcome to my post for the Legacy of the Clockwork Key blog tour! I love this book and I'm really excited for its release. I have a review, a dream cast, and a giveaway for you. It's going to be very fun :)
But, let me first introduce this absolutely brilliant book:

Legacy of the Clockwork Key (The Secret Order, #1)
A teen girl unravels the mysteries of a secret society and their most dangerous invention in this adventure-swept romance set in Victorian London.

When a fire consumes Meg’s home, killing her parents and destroying both her fortune and her future, all she has left is the tarnished pocket watch she rescued from the ashes. But this is no ordinary timepiece. The clock turns out to be a mechanical key—a key that only Meg can use—that unlocks a series of deadly secrets and intricate clues that Meg is compelled to follow.

Meg has uncovered evidence of an elite secret society and a dangerous invention that some will stop at nothing to protect—and that Meg alone can destroy. Together with the handsome stable hand she barely knows but hopes she can trust, Meg is swept into a hidden world of deception, betrayal, and revenge. The clockwork key has unlocked her destiny in this captivating start to a trilogy.

My Rating: 5/5

I can't even describe how much I adored this book! Legacy of the Clockwork Key was an absolutely brilliant YA steampunk romance.

I've read a lot of historical YA, but I don't think I read a steampunk YA before reading this book. So, this genre was a little new to me. But, I'm so glad I gave it a try because this book was amazing.

Meg was a strong heroine. She hasn't had the easiest time for the past several months, but she's dealt with it. And when she finds out that her grandfather may be alive and her parents' death isn't what it appeared, she doesn't let anything stop her from finding out the truth. Though she risked her job and her life, she was determined to solve the mystery. I really liked her. She was a very real character. The way she was portrayed made her seem very realistic. Her reactions were all understandable and, many times, admirable. She was a thoroughly likable, a lovely lead that anyone can support.

Will was wonderful. Though, at first, he seems blunt and somewhat rude, it isn't long before I fell for him anyway. He tended to be the voice of reason. While Meg was willing to do anything in her quest for the truth, Will would be the one to attempt to curb her impetuousness. He was incredibly clever and strong and definitely proved himself to be a worthy hero.

Will and Meg were very cute together. Their romance develops steadily throughout the course of the book. Will was a total sweetheart to Meg. They were a perfect couple and I can't wait to see how they do together in the rest of the trilogy.

The steampunk elements in Legacy of the Clockwork Key were well done. They added the perfect atmosphere to the book, along with the mystery and romance.

The plot was fast-paced. I was hooked the entire way through. There were some secrets and surprises that had my jaw dropping as well as some thrills that had me on the edge of my seat. The ending was absolutely wonderful. There wasn't a cliffhanger but there was a lead into the next book.
Speaking of which, I can't wait to get my hands on book 2. I'm so anxious to find out what happens next. I'm  totally hooked on this series.

Legacy of the Clockwork Key was amazing, wonderful, fantastic, brilliant. I can't even express how much I loved it. With elements of mystery, thrills, and romance, this is sure to be a hit. Any lovers of the genre should definitely try this out.
