The Next Forever by Lisa Burstein + Featured Freebie

The Next Forever

One night in college can change everything…

Away at college, Amy just wants one night alone without her high school sweetheart, Joe. So when he invites her to go to the library, she heads off on her own instead. How she ended up at a house party with the mysterious bad-boy Trevor is another story…

Joe so isn’t going to the library. He needs space from Amy, too, so he’s decided to rush a fraternity, to get back the swagger he had in high school. But it doesn’t take long for the brothers to invite him to the real rush here the beer is flowing and one particular girl has set her eyes on Joe.

Over the course of one wild night, both Amy and Joe will have to decide if their futures belong with two new people, or whether the next forever will have their first loves in it.

My Rating: 5/5

A lovely coming of age story! The Next Forever is a sweet book full of real emotion...

I know that this is a sequel to Pretty Amy, but, if you haven't read that book, you don't really need to in order to understand what is going on. I read this novella without having read Pretty Amy and  I was still able to understand the situation.

During this book, both Amy and Joe have to figure out if they are ready for a true and lasting relationship, one that will survive through college. They both have their doubts and spend one night figuring them out.

I really like how this was done. The emotions were so realistic. I truly felt for the character. It's obvious from the beginning that, despite any doubts, Amy and Joe belong together. Throughout their night apart, they spent most of the time thinking about each other. It was so sweet.

The end was perfect. It wasn't overly optimistic, but, instead, very realistic. But, we, and the characters, are left with a sense of hope for the future.

I really liked this sweet, emotional novella. Lovers of YA or romance, you should really read this book.
