Her Guardian Lover Blog Tour: Review + GIVEAWAY!

Welcome to my stop for the Her Guardian Lover blog tour. This book is fantastic. But, before I get to that and the giveaway, for those who don't know about this lovely book yet, here's the info:

Guarding April is a hard day's work. But opening his heart to love her could be the end of life as he knows it.

April May Carter, a twenty-nine-year-old small town high school teacher, dreams of finding a man to whisk her away from the Hicksville she's stuck in. She wants it all—the husband, the house, the kids, the car. But her dreams of living the perfect life are shattered during a school shooting.

Damian is supposed to keep April safe. He's an angel, but you wouldn't guess that judging from his attitude. A tragic event in his past has left him so bitter and resentful that he won't let anyone get close. But the moment, Damian sees April, he's blindsided by the beauty. She awakens a part of his soul he thought had long ago burned out.

April should hate him, but she sees through his abrasive exterior and finds the compassionate, loving man beneath. Can Damian let go of his past, accept his responsibilities, and let her love him? Or will he spend the rest of his existence alone and miserable?

My Rating: 4/5

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I expected a good read but it turned out to be a truly wonderful book-a romance success.

I was a little worried about the execution of the angel idea for this book. With most angel books it was either perfectly done or horrifyingly terrible. Fortunately, Her Guardian Angel was the former.

April was a good character for the majority of the time, but there were a few times when she became the weak link in the book. Though she was mostly a strong character, she had a few moments that lacked the strength I expected from her character. For example, in the first part of the book, she is with a boyfriend that everyone she knows dislikes and who blatantly treats her bad but she just kept making excuses for him. It was out of character for her. I knew that she could be a strong character so moments like those were a little frustrating. But, otherwise, she was a solid character. In the end, I really liked her. She dealt with her situation, for the most part, with admirable strength. And, when she knew what she wanted, she was unstoppable, but clever, in her determination to get it.

Damian was such a sweet character. I literally loved everything about him. A situation in his past has made him reluctant to grow close to anyone. Despite that, he truly cares for all of his charges as a guardian angel, which I found to be very sweet. Though his past made him stubborn at times, he knew when to go for what he wanted. I really adored Damien and I think others definitely will, as well.

These two had a tense relationship, caused by the blatant sexual tension but their stubborn refusal to act on it. When they finally did, it was HOT. But they were also genuinely cute together, a perfect couple.

The plot of this book had a slow start but, after a couple of chapters in, it took of and kept me hooked the rest of the way. There are a few surprises along the way that kept me guessing. And the ending was utter perfection.

Her Guardian lover is fantastic and I would recommend it to any romance lover.
